Gordon Taylor’s history goes back to 1969 when Mr. Taylor opened the store on the corner of Carden and Wilson streets. In 1974 the store moved to its current location, a spacious 7000 square foot store on Woolwich Street. The store thrived in the 70s, at one point boasting over 500 students. Teachers like Brain and Doris are still teaching here today. In 1989 a young Joe Carere became employed at the store. An impressive organ player to say the least, he soon became a key figure at the store, and in 1997 he became the owner and chief operator of the store. Since then the store has broadened its wares and services and maintained its place in the musical community as one of its prominent stores.
